Arenal Volcano Hike

~4 hours (2h hike) $77.99 / person Medium difficulty

Walk where the lava flowed

In 1968 the Arenal Volcano roared back to life, reshaping the landscape around La Fortuna. On this guided ~2-hour hike you'll walk trails cut through those very lava fields, watching the rainforest slowly reclaim the rock — with the volcano's near-perfect cone above you and views over Lake Arenal in the distance.

Your naturalist guide brings it all to life: the eruption's history, how volcanic soil feeds this explosion of biodiversity, and the plants and animals moving back into the regeneration zones.

Your experience

  1. Hotel pickup in the La Fortuna / Arenal area.
  2. Guided hike (~2 hours) across the 1968 lava flow trails and through secondary rainforest.
